About God - We believe God is the Creator and Ruler of the Universe. When it comes to our Creator, the Bible is the only trustworthy source for understanding Him. Scripture teaches that God created everything we can see -- and even everything we can’t see -- out of nothing. Although it might be difficult for the human mind to comprehend, the Bible teaches that He is one yet has existed since the beginning of time as three distinct and equal persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:1; 26,27; 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14).
About Jesus - Jesus Christ is God’s Son and an equal of the Father, existing from the beginning of time. In the first century A.D. Jesus lived his earthly life, being both completely God and completely human, simultaneously. And after living a perfect, sinless life, Jesus offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for every human, ever. After three days in the grave, he defeated sin and death by rising from the grave. He then ascended to Heaven and will return to earth one day to reign as King. (Matthew 1:22-23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5; 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14-15; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Romans 1:3-4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14; Titus 2:13).
About the Holy Spirit - The Holy Spirit is a full and equal part of the Trinity. He works in the world to make all people understand their need for Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit lives inside every follower of Jesus from the moment they decide to follow Him. The Spirit is our power source for life, ministry and spiritual growth. To experience that power, we must continually surrender to the Holy Spirit. (2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13; 14:16-17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12; 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; 5:1; Galatians 5:25).
About Man - Man is the centerpiece of God’s creation, being the sole creation God made in His own spiritual image, with the moral ability to choose right from wrong. Every person, although endowed with the image of God, inherited a disobedient heart from Adam, the very first man. This attitude of disobedience (called sin in the Bible) – unless rectified through Christ – forever keeps man from forming a relationship with his Creator. This attitude also keeps us from being the kind of person God created us to be. (Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; 59:1-2; Romans 3:23).
About Salvation - Salvation is a gift from God. Our disobedient nature has eternally separated us from our Creator. No matter how hard we try, we can never earn our way back into God’s presence. Our only hope is to turn from our self-ruled life and trust Jesus as God’s provision for our disobedience. Whenever you make that decision, you step into the eternal and abundant life Jesus promises for all believers. (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8, 9; John 14:6; 2 Peter 3:9; Romans 5:1, 10:9-10, 13).
About the Church - Upon accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, a believer becomes part of His body, which is the church. There is one universal church, composed of all those throughout the world who acknowledge Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. The Scriptures command believers to gather in order to devote themselves to worship, prayer, teaching of the Word, observance of the ordinances (baptism and communion), fellowship, service to the body through the development and use of talents and gifts, and outreach to the world in fulfillment of the command of Christ to disciple all believers (Ephesians 5:23; Romans 12:1; Acts 2:42-46; 1 Corinthians 14:26; Matthew 28:18-20).
Local. Wherever God's people meet regularly in obedience to this command, there is the local expression of the church under the oversight of elders and other supportive leadership. The church body is to work together in love and unity, intent on the ultimate purpose of glorifying Christ (Ephesians 4:16).
About Eternity - What you decide about Jesus Christ in this life will determine where you will spend eternity. God made you to exist forever. Heaven is a perfect place, and since none of us is perfect we were all headed for an eternity of separation from God. That’s why God sent Jesus: to pay the price for our sins so that we can spend eternity with Him. If you accept Him, you’ll spend it eternally connected with Him in Heaven. (John 3:16; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15; 21:27; Matthew 25:41; Isaiah 2:4; Jude 14; 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18).
About the Bible - The Holy Spirit inspired human authors to write the books of the Bible. Every word of scripture is chosen by God himself. The Bible is God’s love letter to all of humanity and is the final authority in every issue it communicates. It is complete truth, and we can trust it for all matters in this life and eternity. (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21; 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119:105, 160; 12:16; Proverbs 30:5; Hebrews 1:1-2; John 5:39).
About Missions - Every believer is a missionary. Realizing that the cause of Christ extends beyond any one local fellowship, we commit ourselves to an ongoing ministry of extending the call of Christ to make disciples around the world (Matthew 28:19-20).
About Marriage - The Bible teach that marriage is defined as a union between one man and one woman becoming one flesh for life. Marriage is a representation of Christ and the church. Any sexual relationship outside of this “marriage” for the believer is considered immoral and a sin against the very temple of the Holy Spirit (Genesis 2:24; 1 Corinthians 6:12-20; 1 Corinthians 7; Ephesians 5:22-33; Colossians 3:18-25).
About Heaven, Hell, and the Return of Christ - We believe in the blessed hope: the personal, pre-millennial return of the Lord Jesus Christ. His return has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18). We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the lost. The saved are raised to eternal, conscious bliss in heaven (Matthew 25:34; John 14:2; 2 Corinthians 5:1; Revelation 2:7). The lost are raised to eternal torment in the Lake of Fire in conscious separation from God (Matthew 8:12; Matthew 10:28; Matthew 13:49-50; Mark 9:47-48; Luke 12:5; Revelation 21:8).
About the Enemy (Satan, Lucifer or the Devil) - Satan was a beautiful angel created by God who was cast out of Heaven after sinning. He is real and he is the adversary who seeks to destroy every believer. Satan is a liar and the father of lies. We believe that he must petition God before he can do anything to a believer (Job 1-2). He tempted our Lord Jesus Christ in the wilderness and tempts us at the present time (Ezekiel 28:13-19; Matthew 4; John 8:44; Ephesians 6:11; 1 Peter 5:8).
Mission & Values
Our mission at True Hope is to glorify God
by leading people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
This mission along with everything we do is designed to encourage and equip people to pursue 3 things: intimacy with God, involvement in community and the ability to influence in the world.
As a church, we hold to very specific values that guide, shape and uphold all of these efforts. Without such values, we believe our efforts quickly become unfocused.
This is who we are. This is what we value.
We believe the Bible is God’s Word and is without flaw. Therefore it is our ultimate standard.
To what extent are you fulfilling what Scripture calls you to do and to be?
We are called to be spiritual contributors not spiritual consumers. We believe the church does not exist for us; we are the church and we exist for the world.
How are you leveraging your gifts for God’s purposes?
We give up things we love for the things we love even more. We believe it is more blessed to give than to receive – through our service and giving.
What are you giving up for the cause of Christ?
We believe God is active in every person’s life. It’s the church’s role to equip individuals to respond to this.
What are you doing to help someone realize their God-given identity and purpose?
Connecting with God
God is the ultimate power source for personal transformation. Lasting life change happens through intentional pursuit of Him.
How do you listen for God’s voice, and what steps do you take to obey when He speaks?
There is power in full grace and complete truth, which is best experienced in authentic community. Doing life alone is deadly.
Who has your complete trust and can speak truths that you may not want to hear?
